Sam Perez, Founder & CEO

Sam Perez is one of the world's premier classical guitarists in Houston. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Sam is a highly experienced musician with a demonstrated history of working in the music industry. 

He began his guitar studies with the world renown guitarist Efrain Silva at the age of eight. At the age of fourteen, Sam made his debut at the Texas Music Festival. Soon after he took first prize at the Eastfield Guitar Competition in Dallas and has won and prized in many more competitions including ECU and Columbus State guitar symposium. He has played in many master classes for important guitarists like Pepe Romero, Pavel Steidl, Judacael Perroy, and Luis Ochoa to name a few. Sam went on to receive a full scholarship to study with the world’s best faculty at San Francisco Conservatory led by David Tanenbaum.

Sam has played at some of the worlds most prestigious concert venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and Santa Maria de la Pieta. He has also been featured on programs for numerous music societies and festivals. He was Director of Guitar Studies at a large private music academy for six years. As of March 2020 he crossed a teaching milestone of giving 10k guitar lessons and is happy to pass on the knowledge of his experience with everyone. Sam is a practitioner of Alexander technique as well as the 7 Habits and is passionate about guitar pedagogy. 

Sam and his wife Lisa, are foodies and love their dogs and cats. As CEO of Sienna Academy of Music, Sam is committed to music education and making a positive impact through music.
